Girlguiding Bexleyheath and Welling

Girlguiding is a leading charity for girls and young woman in the UK.  Across Bexleyheath and Welling we have 20 fantastic volunteers providing a weekly unit meeting for nearly 300 children.  Through fun, friendship and adventure we empower our girls to be their best and face the challenges of growing up today in a safe girl-only space.

Our young members are aged between 5 and 18 and split into four sections – Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers.  We are inclusive and welcome people from all faiths and backgrounds.  Each section works on a programme of activities that changes and becomes more challenging as they get older.  Themes from all aspects of life are covered, such as science and engineering, craft, community action, art, food, emotional wellbeing and international awareness.  Our members earn badges and awards as they complete different stages.  We also like to go out on day trips, Brownie holidays and Guide camps (in tents!) when restrictions allow.  It’s not just a great experience for our girls, our adult volunteer leadership teams get to take part in the fun too and enjoy some great experiences.

We would love to hear from anyone that might be interested in joining our units as a young member, or as an adult to help run the sessions.  Adult volunteers will have the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, do something different every week and make a difference in the lives of girls and young women in the community.  If you’d like to know more about the units and opportunities we have available, please get in touch – girlguidingbexwell@outlook.com
