Design a Christmas Light Competition
Last year was the first year of our design a Christmas light competition and the winner was Jack with his design of Jim the Elf.
The light shone from Welling Corner throughout the festive period.
Each year we plan to add a new light designed by a local child to our collection.
Jim will be back this year along with a new light designed by the competition winner.
Calling all young artists! Now’s your chance to enter Discover Welling’s 2026 design a Christmas light competition! The winning design will be made into a real Christmas light and be put up on a lamp post in Welling Town Centre over the Christmas period.
The competition is open to all school aged children who either live or attend a school located in Welling.
When creating your design, please keep it simple and use no more than 4 colours to make it suitable for putting on a lamppost. We will accept both digital and hand-drawn designs.
If sending entries as a school group, please put the child’s first name, class and school on the back of the drawing and if sending individually, please include contact details.
Please either email your finished creation or drop into Welling library by Sunday 11th October 2026.
The winning entry will be chosen in mid-October so it can be made in time for Welling Sparkle on Sunday 15th November 2026.
